Hi

I've been having trouble with my PC. I built it myself about 3 months ago (its not the first PC ive built).

When I first got it up and running, it had faulty RAM - I got lots of scandisk errors and consistent crashing/corruption of files.

I got the RAM replaced but there still remained the problem of instability after about 30mins of stressful-cpu activity (i.e. gaming, compiling). Also, when the PC was doing anything, the sound crackled if anything was playing (not always but in specific applications/tasks).

I was told that the PC would be more stable if i used PC133 RAM (instead of PC100) because im using a KT133 motherboard. So I bought 256MB PC133 ram to replace my 128MB PC100 RAM.
This improved stability a little and greatly reduced the sound crackling problem.

The CPU temperature is generally 55-60deg. C. This is way too high, I know. The fan/heatsync do look pretty big but I think I should do something about that temperature even if it doesn't fix my instability problems (although if it does both itll be great :))

I'm considering buying a GlobalWin WBK38 heatsync (with 60mm delta fan) and then applying some Arctic Silver II to reduce the temperature further.
Am I making a good choice? I'd like some info, feedback, user opinions, whatever, on these 2 products. Do they go together well?

Also if anyone could suggest what could be causing my instability/sound crackling please let me know! My system spec is below:

AMD Thunderbird 900mHz - Socket A (not overclocked)
ASUS A7V motherboard
256MB PC133 RAM
Creative Sound Blaster Live! 1024
Creative GeForce2 GTS
30GB HDD,DVD/CDRW,etc

Thanks in advance

Yeah, I'm sure they would go well together, but I just want to warn you that applying Arctic Silver correctly is not an easy task. You gotta be patient! You can view the application instructions at As for heatsinks, if you really want the best money can buy, go for a Swiftech MC462 ( It has a 63.7 CFM 80mm Fan! I have a Thunderbird which was running at 58-60 degrees C and now it runs at 38-39 degs C, with
Arctic S. 2 and the MC462!!!

Hope this helps
