PC name and workgroup name

Can a PC name in a domain be same as the name of a workgroup(the workgrup is not in the domain)?

For example:

Windows 2000 server is a domain controller, its name is:
domain1: under domain1, there is a PC(its name is test). On the same LAN network, there are other groups, but they don't join the domain. One group's name is test.

Is this right?

it can be but barly recomended as this could cause all sorts of malfunctions such as when you are creating a login script which you may confuse and connect to the domain or the workstation.
