Every so often my PC just freezes up or the screen goes off and short while later comes back on again but still frozen up.

Motherboard is an ASUS A7N8X2 with an Athlon XP 3200 processor and Dual channel 200Mhz memory.

If I then force a manual reboot it sometimes boots in to an Athlon 1100 and 100Mghz memory speed.

If I turn of for five minutes it then boots OK.

The Asus temperature monitor shows the CPU stable at about 52 Degrees C and the motherboard at 33 Degrees C.

Any suggestions as to where to start?

Many thanks.

start simple: go in and reseat everything check simple stuff first if you have'nt already. i had a pc that would power up downgraded if my son was resting his feet on the tower........never a good thing.....he's 15 my problem was the motherboard was NG and the flexing from the weight brought it out
