PC Freezes while installing LAN Adapter driver

While installing lan adaptor (SIS PCI 900)my pc freezes. I couldn install drivers. Anybdy has idea what can can be wrong.

Sounds like a memory conflict. Try installing to a different slot. If it's an older NIC it might have DIP switches that change the default memory adress etc.

is the ONBOARD LAN activated within the BIOS? if NOT do so before installing the drivers for it...

what os?
when mattdmoores tip doesnt help check for irq/memory conflict (msinfo32.exe, use diff. pci slot)
