I have a problem with my pc. I just upgraded my motherboard and processor I Bought a Asus A7v133-c mobo with a Amd athlon 1800+ tbred it also came with a Amd certified fan and heat sink. The problem I am having is on cold boot it will not boot up it just sits there with a blank screen untill I hit reset than it boots up fine and runs fine and if you restart or warm boot it boots and runs fine. My cpu is not overheating it runs at 137 degrees farenheight even after playing graphic intense games.
If anyone has any ideas why this is happening I would apreciate any input.

Check the manual on your system board and see if there is a setting in your Bios for a delay in the boot up. I had a system that required a 5 second delay in the boot up sequence to allow the drive to spin up.
This sounds like your drive is not quite ready to boot up then the system board want to access it.

If a delay is not the problem, then it may be a faulty power supply. I recently saw a similar situation where a PC took 10-15 minutes for the PC to move past the blank screen to load the BIOS and operating system. Once the PC had been running for some time, you could warm or cold boot it all you want without any problems. Then overnight with the PC off, the same problem would occur the next day.

Changing the power supply was the fix. It turns out that all power supplies run a 'quick' inspection test when they're first turned on - similar to the BIOS POST test. If something is wrong but not fatal, the power supply will eventually move past the error and allow the motherboard to receive power. How long that takes depends on the power supply and how severe the error is.

Of course, there are other possibilities like the motherboard, BIOS settings, etc. The next time this occurs, let it sit for 10 minutes or so and see what happens...

...also make sure you have the power and reset LED cables plugged into the correct PINS on the motherboard!

I'll second the bad power supply, working in a pc shop for over 4 years you see it everyday. Invest in a good power supply - your computer will thank you for it!

Was going to post a similiar thread with this similiar problem. Updated a computer with NEW hard drive and did a fresh install of Win ME.

Problem is:
The first time you boot, it will sit at the WindowsME screen and won't continue to desktop like normal. However, after you reset it, its boots fine. I'm suspectiing a 'weak' or 'bad' power supply.

Anyone got any other suggestions. I'd like to hear it.
