I have 2 PC's. One laptop trying to connect remotely to a desktop. My PCanywhere connects but then it asks for a username and password. It has never done this before. Both OS's are windows 98 and PC anywhere is V9 James Collins

When you set up pcAnywhere to be a host, its supposed to ask you to input the username and password for a remote computer to use. This is what you enter.

If it doesn't work, try reinstalling on the host machine.
