Is there a recommended preventative maintenance schedule for a CS1000M PBX as far as shutting down and restarting the PBX? I have INI the switch after installing some patch’s before but never as a maintenance procedure. Just curious if is something needs to be done. Any thoughts would be of help.
Thanks

I used to be a periodic SysLoad'er - John Poole has pretty much convinced me the only reason to do that is if nothing else works to resolve some problem.

There is some benefit though - you learn that your PBX is likely capable of recovering from an unexpected reload if you perform an intentional one.

i would ask a field tech. they seem to do this more often since they're out and about all day. as long as i've been working on Nortel, people are very tight lipped when it comes to shutting down a system.

good luck....

I would never INI or SYSLOAD unless I had to. If it's running clean then leave it alone.

think I am going to have to INI the PBX, I can login into it but I am not able to go into any ld other than ld 20.
It is working fine, I just cant do any admin work.

something really sounds messed up. No one would have taken away your OVLY access would they?

no, atleast i hope not, it just seems to be stuck

Instead of a SYSLOAD, think about a complete power cycle of the system. But have spare power supplies and other critical cards ready!

This way if you have a marginal card, you poke it before it fails on YOUR TERMS and are ready for it. Once a year is the frequency many people use and time it with other 'power maintenance' windows.

There is no Nortel requirement or recommendation to do this though. Strictly a user preference.

What's the issue? Stuck really doesn't give a specific issue. Can you even log in? If not, Try logging in with all UPPERCASE.

If it lets you into ovly 20 only, it sounds like a permissions issue more than a problem. DO you have the 2nd level PW? If so I would log in with that and see if the same issue occurs.

The issue was a result of a patch being installed and the tech not doing an INI of the pbx after the patch was installed. A simple read of the text file for the patch informed us that the pbx needed to be ini after the patch was installed.
Thanks for all the help.
