does anyone know if you can login to an Option 11 via a Pollcat box? The Pollcat has 3 ports in the box, 2 are for SMDR and the third one is for AUX.

is it possible to use that AUX port, connect a cable to your PBX, then login to the Pollcat and connect to my PBX?

it would save us a bundle on the POTS line charges.

let me know if you've tried this or have it in place today. thx!!

I have seen numerous customers log into their systems via a Pollcat box. I have never set one up, but have seen it in action. Go for it!

thanks. if anyone out there knows how to do it, please let me know.

Yes
Access to pbx via pollcat from any terminal type application (putty,hyper,etc..)via modem or direct connction. Note connection or access to PBX occurs when the TTY port for CDR records from the PBX is connected to A or B input of the Pollcat.

If password enabled at the PollcatIII prompt; enter the password (SMDR is the default password)If ok comes up, then enter ^B then press 1 6. (^b16)
If you see the configuration of the buffer box you can access the switch by typing

^b29 (enter passthrough mode)
then logg into the switch as per normal

^b30 (exit passthrough mode)

Pollcat website has pdf file of commands.
Similar to MDR2000 box

Hope this helps....

why does it have to be ports A or B? I was told to use the AUX port.

The aux port could be used as a com port for a computer or external modem. I think it is usually used for a direct connection with a pc. (ie for local on site access) The Pollcats that I am familiar with have a built in modem. Not sure of all the models.

All I know is that the PollCat III that I use, have a phone line attached and are connected to the PBX by either port A or port B. When the pollcat is accessed from the phone line I can access the PBX via the port connected to the PBX in pass-through mode.
