I have created a rectangular shape with a pattern fill in Corel Draw that I will export to a GIF image for use as part of web page art. The pattern fill is actually made using the grid feature in CDR. It is one contiguous fill rather than one that is tiled sized 800 by 150 pixels.

I would like to apply a gradient fill to the image so that is clearly visible on the left but fades to nothing on the right (to blend into the white image background of the background).

Can I apply opacity to this image in CDR so that appears from left to right? Or, should I open the image in Corel PhotoPaint and try this there?

Thanks in advance with either process!

Hi boxplan,

I hope this is what you're looking for... (I use CorelDRAW 9 so I hope the steps are accurate for your version).

Steps:

1) After clicking on your box, click the "Paint Can" icon.

2) The second option on the "flyout" should be the "Fountain Fill Dialog", and hitting <F11> should be an option.

3) After entering the Foutain Fill Dialog window, click on "Custom" under "Color Blend".

4) Below "Color Blend" is a horizontal color-gradient-bar. The default colors should be Black on the left and White on the right. At the top-left-corner and the top-right-corner of this bar, there are little white boxes. Click on white box on the "black" side.

5) Then click on "Others" (to the right of the gradient-bar). This will take you to the "Select Color" window where you can specify your color with CMYK, etc.

Please also note that "between the two little white boxex on the corners of the gradient-bar, you can "double-click" at any point to add another color. This will place a black triangle that you can click-and-drag along the bar. You can of course then change the color in the same manner as previously described. You can add as many different colors as you wish. To remove a color, simply double-click on the black triangle.

I hope this helps. :) Please advise as to how you make out.
