Path Transform?

Hi everyone,

I have a small question. I need to transform some vines, the bramble kinda-vines to fit into a specific shape. I thought this is possible in Illustrator with Path Transform, to create a path, link the object to the path, and then alter the shape of the path... but how?? I have tried a few things which seemed logical to me, but unfortunately, Illustrator disagreed with me. Can anyone help me?
