I want to paste a 30x30 table of cells over an excel sheet of which some of the cells are protected. I was hoping that excel would just paste into unprotected cells as usual and ignore protected cells.
Unfortunately this is not the case. I get an error message saying the the sheet is protected (even though only a few cells are).
So does anyone have any idea how to get round this problem?

Find out which cells are protected (hoepfully it will be a row or a column) then paste over the non protected cells by row or column

I know I can do it manually - line by line or column by column but I would like to do it in one single paste.....

Hi,

If this is a recurring task with the same source and destination ranges, record a macro and then run the macro.

...and, I failed to recommend that the recorded macro can be improved by unprotecting, doing the copy 'n' paster and then protect.
