I am new to Dreamweaver 4. I have used DW 3 in the past and decided to make the upgrade.

QUESTION #1: When I paste HTML into DW 4 it displays the HTML on the page instead of embedding it as did DW 3. How can I paste a HTML clip into DW 4 without this happeneing?

QUESTION #2: Lol, I just remembered I also have another stupid question. Why wont DW 4 display .BMP images?? I have no problem with .JPG I would like to be able to see the image rather than going into a paint prog n converting all of my images from .BMP to .JPG.

Thanks a million,

hit the display code button first and paste it straight into the code.

Mark where you want the code to go.
Hit the <> button top left
Paste.

Good luck.

DW has a really cool feature where you can splitthe screen and display HTML at top window and display WYSIWYS at bottom. That is one of the best features, indispensible. Use that and you can paste HTML code exactly where you want buy clicking the WYSIWYG section, the cursor will automatically place where you indicated in the code sction, now paste, click the refresh and you are ready to roll. When in doubt, deny all terms and defnitions.

Hey thank you,

this solved my problem.

With regard to DW4 not displaying .bmp images, I'm no expert but maybe the program is keeping with the convention that says images on the net should be in .jpg or .gif format, (or even the not-as-well-supported .png) but not .bmp???

You can compress Gif and Jpg images with any image editor to make them a smaller size so they'll load faster in your page. As such you're definitely better off sticking with those formats instead of going for bitmap files.
