Have a user that says she was in a class recently that said she could (1.) lift click anywhere in Excel, (2.) Left click cell A1 and then do Ctrl+c followed by ctrl+y and the cursor would change to a little cross. (3.) highlight through cells A21 and hit ctrl+c again (4.) Paste A1-A21 into "application yada yada" and all cells would populate.

Ok no big deal you say, but I cannot do this (always thought ctrl+y in excel just mirrored the last action) and what is happening is this "application yada yada" just has 8 rows visable so instead of seeing 1 - 21 we see 1 - 8. Her described method above would indeed popualte 1 - 21 (the 8 rows seen on the screen, followed by an additional 9-21)

Does anyone know how to accomplish this?

Left Click A1
hold Shift down and left click A21

Ctrl-C
Click in A1 of "yada yada"
Ctrl-v

The cursor changes to a cross if you hover over the "fill handle" - have a look at help?

hehe what you have explained is a regular copy and paste :)
Let me explain better.

You have application "yada yada" open, you can see 8 rows. You can however scroll down to infinity, however we will say 21.

Now when I copy from Excel and paste into "yada yada" it only populates the 8 visable rows. If you were to scroll down 9 - 21 would be blank.

The user said she was able to paste using the method I described above and get all 21 rows to populate.

So a user went to a class, didn't take notes, and what they think they heard isn't working now? Wow!?!? [surprise]

What application are you pasting into? What, exactly, does the user want to do? (Forget the steps she thinks she was told - just describe in plain english what she wants to accomplish.)

Copy this:

1. text
2. text
3. text
4. text
5. text
6. text

Paste into a SAP application (can be any app other than excel)

Again though it will paste but it will cut off what the visable window cannot see. So you have application X open and you see 4 rows. To the right is a scroll bar in which you can scroll down to as many rows as you want. But for now you only see rows 1 through 4. When you click in row 1, it will just paste 1 through 4 as it is the only ones you can see in the GUI. She was able to actually get all the rows to fill regardless of what you could visably see.

Interestingly I have had the same issue with SAP. But I know it was to do with changes that were made to the SAP transaction to make it more useable in the SAP Portal - so nothing to do with Excel.

Having selected and copied the cells to the clipboard, if you can paste them into Excel and ALL of them paste then that will confirm that the problem is with SAP not Excel.

Hi, I want to apologize if this isn't where I should be to try and ask a question. I'm new to your forum and can't figure out yet where I need to be. My question is I am trying to fix a spreadsheet that in cell C38 i need a formula that will check cells J9 and K9 and if they are zero then the amount in I9 will go to C38. If the amount is zero for all three cell then 0 would be in c38. If i am in the wrong place could you tell me where I could find help? Thanks Georgia
