password recovery 2500 - break sequence

I'm trying to peform password recovery on a 2513 and 2514. Documentation says to power off, power on, and issue a break sequence from the console terminal within 60 seconds to enter ROMMON. I have tried CRT, Terra Term, and Windows 2000 Hyperterminal, but apparently, the break sequence is not being recognized. I'm using 9600 8 n 1 n. Each time, the router will boot and display the "press enter to begin" message.

Any ideas on how to troubleshoot?

As always double check term settings and cabling. I have had some issues using XP machines and its hyper terminal program.

Is it possible that the terminal defaults were changed on the router?

You could always try pulling out the flash and booting it up.
