Password Protect a Folder

Hi all,
I'm running win2000 and I want to be able to password protect a folder on my desktop. I am aware that if another user logs on they won't have my desktop because each user customizes their own. However, I have a folder on my desktop that contains passwords and stuff relevant to our network. I would like to password protect it to ensure that no one gets into the folder when i'm away from my desk, etc.
And yes, I'm aware i could just log-off but i'm looking for a way to lock down this folder with a password...
Any suggestions?

You can just restrict the folder by going to the folder's properties\permissions and security. If the user's have administrative accounts and you rather have a passoword for the folder, check this

besides permissions you can also encrypt the folder. however, as long as one of the other user has the administrator password or administrator-equivalent power, that user can still read your stuff (of course not as easy).

This is what I would do if you are needing to Protect that folder and you don't want anyone else to view it. I am assuming you have Admin rights to your pc?

I would first Enable to Show Hidden Files and Folders -- that is if you not already have it enabled. Afterwards I would basically cut and paste the folder that you are wanting to Protect and place it inside of a Hidden Folder. I would then Disable " Show Hidden Files and Folders " this way whomever loggs in never even thinks about it and will not " see " the folder at all.....only thing you would have to remember is either where you placed the folder at or the name of it and enable " Show Hidden Files and Folders" whenever you want to get to it.....but honestly - if you are on a Company Network You should have your own personal space out on a server where you could place that Folder and only You and only You has access to that space - with that being said you have nothing to worry about there - It's also a safe place as I'm sure they perform backups and should anything ever happen to that folder they can Restore it...I would not place it on Local C-Drive at all.
