Hi,
I'm new to Windows NT 4.0. I recently created a new user in the Windows NT server existing in my Dept. I gave the user a default password to start with. The problem is, as soon as close the user manager tool. The password switches back to some default password which I donot know. Can anyone tell what is the problem is?.
Please help me.

Is the PC the user logs onto a NT box too?

The user may not be logging onto your Domain but into a local user on the workstation (so the password appears to be different).

Check to see if the logon is onto the domain plus untick the User can change password box in the User Manager (on the server). The password maybe being changed but the workstation to match the local logon password.
New Zealand, a great place to live.

Just a side note, NT User Manager will put in about 15 or so *s in the password field, regardless of the password length.

So if you type in a password:

Fred

Which would appear as

****

Then close the window (saving it), then bring that user properties back up, the password field will show

*************** [auto] MCSE NT4/W2K
