when i'm on the phone and another call comes in,it doesn't go to my vm. the caller gets a busy signal. but goes to vm on a no answer...thanks

The call isn't "coming in" because you need more lines between you and the phone company. Then those lines need to be set up with "hunting" so if the first one is busy, the call will automatically come in on the second one.

I'M SORRY FOR NOT BEING AS CLEAR AS I WOULD HAVE LIKED..I'M ON THE LINE (A OUTSIDE POTS LINE) MY PHONE ONLY..ANOTHER CALLER CALLS ME ON MY POTS LINE ..HE GETS A BSY INSTEAD OF GOING TO VM..NOW WHEN NO ONE IS ON THE POTS LINE ..IT RINGS AND AFTER 4 RINGS IT GOES TO HIS VM....THIS IS WHAT THE CUST BELIEVES IS HOW IT WORKS..AND THAT IT WENT TO VM WHEN HE WAS TALKING ON THE POTS...THIS CUST IS HRS DRIVE... AM TRYING TO TROUBLESHOOT REMOTELY OVER THE PHONE. ANY INPUT APPRECIATED!!

TTT already gave you the answer. If they have Patner mail (of any kind) and the client has (1) line. If he's already on that line, the next caller is going to get a busy signal. Telco 101. He either needs a second line to add as a hunt group or he needs to order voicemail through his line provider.

What TTT and Telecomboy are saying is busy signals are returned by the carrier, not the PBX. It's the carrier's equipment that handles the hunt sequence so that when line 1 is busy, it knows to roll over to line 2 and so on. If you have more than one line going into the PBX you need to call your phone company and ask them to enable a hunt group with the desired numbers in it.
