Hi. I freshly installed win2k pro. I have a 10 gb SCSI HD. For the install of the OS I read somewhere it was better to install it on a separate partition. I made this partition 790mb, enough room for the OS. The rest of my HD has also been partitioned and is active and healthy as the Computer management/disk management claims. I can place files there and everything,
The problem lies when I try to do some Windows Updates. It claims there isn't enough room on the HD. I tried moving the Temp files default to the f: drive and still the same. I moved the folder WUtemp folder that is created when you do such a thing and still, claims there ain't enough space and asks me to change the folder or drive but it never gives me the option.
Please someone help me with this silly-ness. Thank you

...or should i reinstall and create only one partition of 10gb?

You can't just move Win operating sys files out of the installed partition. You need much more than ,1 gig of space for Win 2K. I tried 7 b4 & found thatnear 8-10 is optimum because your temp files sometimes grow during certain instlls/ op downloads & this space is necessart to get the job done untill you complete the work. Then clear (Delete) your temp files that "may be" no longer needed. K? I.E. repartition/ re-install it again.

What I'm saying is your hard drive is too small !Sorry, but unless you plan on only doing small stuff, you're gonna need more than a 10 gig drive to get the most out of Win 2K. If you must , use at least 4 gig partition for op system.

Thanks dude. I hear ya. Thats what i didi a reinstall, ...new 80 gb harddrive!

Cheers

If I am not mistaken MS requires at least a 650 mb free space and 2 gb harddrive when installing W2k pro.
