Parameters not prompting

I have a few parameter fields.
They're not doing any record selection, not a part of any formula. They just merely display the entered value in the report, in this case in the report header.

I create the parameter & stick it in the header section.

I run the report from my application, but I get no prompt. Why not? I'm using CR10. I've also tried in CR8.5 too & get the same bahaviour.

cheers

Okay, a potentially stupid question here, but if the parameter doesn't actually affect the dataset, what is the point of it's existence? Either way, even if the parameter's only there for display purposes, and you're actually running the report as opposed to just opening a file saved with data, Crystal should prompt you.

How are you invoking your report? I take it you're not simply opening the rpt file in CR and hitting execute.

Are you prompted if you place the parameter in your record selection criteria? (e.g. {?parameter} = {?parameter})

Naith,

Thx for reply. Prompts are for display purposes only. It's a shipping document & the user just needs to pop in transit data such as vessel name, blah blah blah. Not kept in the database.

Anyway - I found the cause of my problem. It is not a Crystal problem. Apparently the app I'm executing it from has some bug that stops Crystal prompts from popping up. If I run the report directly in CR, it's OK. Thx anyway.
