Hi all,

Our company is going to be migrating to Windows XP. We are also going to be changing our servers over from Novell to NT. I can start paradox fine. But when I try to connect to a database server, it doesn't connect. I verified that just before paradox starts that we can ping tht server. We use LANWP42 as our open client in DOS.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

I strongly recommend that you migrate to Paradox for Windows. We held on to Paradox DOS for a long time after Windows came out, but that devil on the west coast is slowly squeezing the life out of anything that doesn't have an MS hologram associated with it.

Anyway, I think you must set the Network type to Other when you run NUPDATE.EXE (it's been a long time and I'm not positive). You will also need to make sure your users have permission from XP to write to the Paradox PRIV and WORKING directories on their local workstations.

Mac,
Thanks for the advice. We are working on replacing the system with a PowerBuilder based system. But that won't be finished before we move to XP.

Thanks again
