Hi everyone, newbie here.
We have just signed the contracts for a Nortel CS1000E/MG1000E/SRG50 solution.

My question is;
Rolm has Voice Announce, Siemens has Broadcast Send/Rcv, the old Executone IDS 84 had internal page, etc. I have to have this feature for our upcoming installation but I'm getting conflicting responses from the vendor on whether this feature will work on the Nortel MG1000E, CS1000E, etc.

The feature (on our current systems) uses the speakers on the phones for users to page without having an external paging system. We can have as many as 24 phones in one group on some of our systems. They press an autodial button or repdial button programmed with the access code/feature code, or page button and the system usually broadcasts a short beep and then the user's voice is paged through the groups phone speakers "John Doe you have a call on XXXX".

Can the Nortel CS1000E Core, and MG1000E have the Dial Intercom and/or Voice Call work on multiple phones/groups and work with both TDM and VoIP phones in that same group?

We did not purchase the Application Gateway Zone Page (IP phones only) package.

Does anyone use this feature like this?
The engineer is not 100% sure, the designer states "no", not more than one phone at a time.

Finally, is their really a 2 second ring on all the phones in that group prior to the voice coming over the speaker(s)? Isn't that annoying or possibly confusing to the users?

Thanks

The poster gwebster has made reference to it before, hopefully they will see your post. They also point out some documentation on the feature in this post: thread798-1424808

My apologies, I have just been reading older threads, my original search under 'paging' didn't show much up but there are plenty of Dial Intercom and Group Call.
SEARCH NEWBIE! LOL

Wow, so there is no real internal paging over multiple speakerphones like all the other older PBX/Key systems. Unbelievable.

What a great start!

Now I have to either tell my CIO and Plant Engineering VP that we'll need paging amps and ceiling speakers for (6) zones in the brand new facility or purchase the Application Gateway product that can only sit at a couple locations and page only VoIP phones.

GHTROUT, you replied in a post regarding paging;

There is not a feature to page over phone speakers. It can be done with a lot of headaches, but even then, only 20 sets at a time (large systems) or 5 at a time (small systems)

So although a pain, is this possible on the CS1000E R5.5?
(20) sets maximum would work fine for us.

Well, OK. I would rather see you use the "Nortel way" (which only works with IP sets), but here's how:

-All TNs in the paging group have to have a non-DID KEY 0. move the DID DN to KEY 1 for example.
-The TNs need CLS AAA
-The KEY 0 DNs of each phone are then added to a LD18 Group Call Group.
-A GRC Key is added to those phones that must originate the Page.

Try it in a small group. You will want to experiment with CLS HFA/HFD as well as some of the FTR_DATA settings in the Customer Data Block - such as OPT HVA/HVD. Not sure how many of those apply to today's software. The last time I set this up was on a Rls23 system.

At the time, I had Nortel write me a patch with code that said: "If Group Call, then mute Microphone of called set". That may or may not be possible today.

Thanks GHTROUT.

Just so I'm clear, your reference to doing it Nortel's way through IP phones would be referring to their Application Gateway product?

Thanks in advance.

Yep, the "Nortel Way" is the IP product gwebster referred to in that linked thread.

I saw a demo yesterday on the application gateway zone paging and a sip based ceiling speaker. Might help you to look into the cost of the ceiling speakers instead of installing the paging amps.
