Our customer has an AVAYA ip office on release 11 . They want a paging device for announcements .Can you recommend the best paging device that could work for this customer ?.
The paging system is going to depend on how many speakers, where they will be located, how loud they need to be, if you will use an amplifier and 70-Volt speakers, or a power supply and self-amplified speakers.
As far as interfacing to the IP Office, you have your choice of using an Analogue Station Port, a Loop Start Trunk Port, or a SIP device that registers to the system as a 3rd party IP Endpoint.
The only thing I would add is I tend to stay away from paging amps that connect via a trunk and those that have page zones. If it uses a trunk port you can't do a simultaneous page to the amp and the phones. If you have paging zones you also won't be able to do simultaneous page.
The truth is just an excuse for lack of imagination.
We've had the good success with an ALGO SIP Alerter and with recent IPO software you can put the SIP Alerter's extension number in the page group to do a simultaneous set and speaker page. To allow for that go to the SIP Extension - VoIP - 3rd Party Auto Answer - select Device Auto Answers
We are using the ALGO SIP alerters as well and have really good luck with the. I use the 8180 as a stand alone device and the 8301 SIP paging adapter to control multiple speakers that were already setup.
