Paging an announcement 1

Is there a way to configure a G3Si switch to play a pre-recorded announcement over the paging system?? We can currently dial an extension to be connected to the overhead paging system, and can speak our page. I'm trying to setup a system where we can dial an extension or number, and have the recording played over the sysytem instead of having to speak it.

Call me Rube Goldberg but why not conference the announcement extension and the overhead paging extension. Boy what fun testing that

You could connect a Viking RC3 to an analog port and a digital announcement player Viking DVA-2WA. When analog port is called the RC3 provides contact closure to the player and it will then announce over your paging system. We have done this for emergency and information paging at numerous sites.

Your 4 digit extension would be the VDN pointing to a vector.

The FAC being the paging code, the announcement being what needs to be announced...

Maybe that'll help - pretty basic

A vector like Chris suggested is what I had in mind. Knowing that what I have in mind isn't always possible. I created a vector like the one above using another employee's extension to test with instead of the overhead. The vector will connect me with his phone, but that's it. It will not play the announcement. Am I missing something, or is additional hardware my only option??

I wonder if you will need a pause---acccessing paging you have to wait for the tone before speaking---so you probably will have to tweak it till its exactly waht you want

Since I was using a phone extension to test with, I'll go back and perform a test using the actual paging system. I'll be sure to post the results.

Tested using the access code for the paging system. Same result. The system will connect my telephone set with the paging system, but not play the announcement. I can paste the vector info here if it would be helpful. Any other suggestions, hints or tips??

Yes. Inside, Toll Free, and 411 (paging code).
