I inherited a system build in vfp6 and have to maintain that in vfp8/9.
The mainform has a pageframe but I'm unable to set the color of a page in a pageframe.

In VFP6 this could be done by simply clicking on the background color property of the specific page.
This option is still available in vfp8/9 but doesn't change the background color of the spacific page.

Who knows how to handle this in vfp8/9 when having a pageframe in the form...

Rob.

I already found the solution:
By default the pageframe Themes property is .T.
To get what I want I need to change thie to .F.

It seems that the Windows XP Themes have a strange effect on this property....

There are many things that you will be unable to change when themes are on, recently I found that grid column header backcolor is disabled when themes are on.

It's not really strange. When themes are on, you're handing control over virtually everything to do with appearance over to Windows. That's the idea of themes.

Tamar,

I get the idea of themes.
But it gives some very strange looking results when "porting" vfp6 applications to vfp8 or 9.
Those strange results were the reason I looked into the themes issue.
I even uninstalled and reinstalled the several vfp versions multiple times because I thought something was wrong.

Yes I know, I had to read the helpfile on the issue "changed behaviour" much better, that would have saved me lots of time...
For me, being a foxbase/pro guy from the first release the portability of code had become a habit.
And... if nothing works, read the bloody manual...
I know, I need to change some habits....

My conclusions are - for now - that pageframes are the most affected by themes = .T., and then the grid-columnheaders...

Rob.

Glad you found the answer Rob, I was having the same issues with pageframes!

Neil

I like work. It fascinates me. I can sit and look at it for hours...

Neil,

VFP 9 has some fixes for the XP themes issues you are seeing. Henzenwerke.com's new book (now shipping) "What's new in 9" has a chapter section that specifically discusses XP theme related enhancements.
