My pagefile.sys is at 400mb+ and eating a ton of space on my C:\ drive. (running NT4 with 384mb Ram)
Is it okay to delete this file and re-boot to free up space?
Can I set the majority of the pagefile.sys onto a different drive?
thanks

pagefile.sys is the system swap file. Whenever a program or programs are using more physical memory than the system has, it takes information out of memory and writes it to disk in that file to be accessed again whenever it's needed.

Here's how to move it:
Right-click on My Computer, go to Properties. Click on the Performance tab. In the Virtual Memory section click Change. Highlight another drive in the Virtual Memory window, and choose an initial and maximum size for your Paging file (probably matching what you have now), then click Set. Highlight the drive your pageing file is currently on, and set both values to 0, click Set again. Hit OK. When you reboot, your pagefile will be on the new drive specified. Marc Creviere
