Page port straight to Amp?

On an install they have a TOA 900 series amplifier and I tried connecting an analog trunk (switched to paging) directly to the TOA. This did not work at all. With their old phone system they had a frankenstein phone rigged up to page to the amp. They also have it producing a tone when calls come in at night. Do I need some sort of "middle" device to make paging work? I feel like a phone system hooked up straight to the amp never works for me.

Buy the SP-11N AM SIP module for the TOA 900 and connect it as a SIP Phone to the IP Office.
You need VCM resources and a 3th party IP Phone license on the IP Office.

That's unfortunate we'll have to get a SIP endpoint license plus pay $500 for that card. Is there a way to use a third party analog conversion device?

Make one yourself using a 600 ohm resistor and two capacitors...

DIY is not done outside of Holland, they rather spend € 100 to avoid dirty hands....

So one of our audio/video guys just told me that if I can switch the TOA input dipswitch to 'Mic', that would be similar impedance to what's needed for an analog ext port.

How is your analog port set ? Did you set it for Loudspeaker ? If so, change it back and juts use it as a normal telephone set. I had a similar issue with a customer coming off of an Avaya Partner system that had their paging connection going to one of the phone port rather than the paging port of that ACS processor. Plugging it into an analog port on the IP Office and leaving it as a normal extension allowed it to work like they had it before. Worth a shot.

Okay I got the paging working great but the TOA amp has another input for ring announcement. It just uses contact closure to activate but won't work with a phone line since it just sends voltage down the line.

Now I'm hunting a phone ring relay device. I found several online but they are mostly kits that require soldering. It should be a fairly simple device that see's ring voltage (100v?) and activates the switch (closes the circuit).

Yeah, I was looking at the Viking because it's only like $50. The Bogen LUUPAM is over $300. Thanks all. I think we'll give the customer the option of leaving it as is or purchasing the Viking.

There is a HUGE difference between the Viking and Bogen products. If ALL that you require is a contact closure on ring, then Viking will work fine. Remember that this will also require an analog station port for operation.

Yep, all we need is contact closure. The TOA amp in question already had a 600 ohm input module that we're using for paging but the Ring Alert is contact closure only.
