just installed new paddle boards in my 81c.. upgrading to rls 5 so the old opc cards have to die..

switch setting look right, i can rec to tty 0, and 1 but can not transmit... i've wired the connector 10 ways but still get no responce when i send enter...

if i loop 2 to 3 on the 9 pin i rec what i send and the comm port on the pc is the same one that i can still used when connected to the cores... thanks john

John, I had an issue once very similar to this, it turned out that some of the dip switches were not all way into position. Just a thought..

John,
If I remember the pinout is
NT8D41 pin 2 to DB9 Pin 2 DB25 Pin 2
NT8D41 pin 6 to DB9 Pin 3 DB25 Pin 3
NT8D41 pin 3 to DB9 Pin 5 DB25 Pin 7

john what was the problem cable or dip switch? The reason I ask is because we have a customer that is going to be upgrading shortly and I'm just trying to put together a list of items to look at.
Thanks

at this point it is still down... 2 paddle boards, one behind each core... tty 0 is set to dce, tty 1 is set to dte.. i rec error msgs from the switch.. from the core i can ld 37 tty 1 and get the test screen to the new paddle board...

i have not found any reason... i've check with my tech support... dug up my break out box... i am on rls 3 and this switch never had paddle boards.. a very unique config...

i did have to replace all the old style t1 cards with dual cards.. the new cards come with a new cable (ntbk66) that does not require a db-15.. it have an rj 45 so you can ethernet to the smart jack without a problem..

we are going figi at the same time so it's a pretty big upgrade

On the paddle boards, I'm sure you've checked, but you dont have any conflicting MSDL DCH ports with the ports you've config'd on the paddles do you?

no, i moved all the msdl's off of that group.. so the only device numbers for that group are the tty's... usually when you assign the same device number to a msdl and a tty (hardware switch setting) the switch does warm restart.. and just loops until you back one card out... (that one burned me once)

Also, I assume you are not running MAX? The HSL TTY and LSL TTY have caught me a few times.

are they the 2 port or 4 port boards. If 4 port, use rls 3 or better!!

quad paddle boards.. i borrowed a nt8d93 cable... works like a champ with a db9 to 25 adapter on the pc side.. after i get pin to pin on db9 to db9, i'll post it

if anyone need it... from the paddleboard

male db9 female db9 (pc)

2 green 2 green
6 red 3 red
7 black 4 black

then use a silver satin, non-rolled... i used a 6 cond but a four will work.. mine has white on the right (clip up) on both ends...

tran/rec 2 and 6 on the nortel end is the reason that most installs use the nt8d93 then a db 25 to 9... cleanest way i've found is db-9 to db-9.. but you have to make them yourselves...

and that could be because of my eng.. he still orders 40 ft msdl cables and 40 ft db 15 ext cords.. the new pri cables do not use db-15.. they are rj 45.. patch cable from the back plane to the smart jack
