Please please please can anyone help me?

I've done a new software re-build on a Packard Bell ixtreme 9507. Its about a year old.

Ive put xp corporate on instead of home, and am having a real problem.

Ive the latest driver for the cnr2800 modem, have installed it, but it dials,.. clicks,.. then disconnects. It disconnects at the point of user password identification, however Ive tried this with different login details, from various accounts I know work, but to no avail.

I have not installed the motherboard drivers, as I do not have them. Windows has automatically installed all but the modem, which I have installed.

I have tested another modem in a pci slot, and that too dials yet disconnects instantly.

As both modems have this problem I assume the motherboard needs a proper chipset driver, or xp is crap! (however xp 'home' worked previously)

The motherboard in here is a Gigabyte GA-8IDMNF, only there is no way of getting a driver for it, that I know of. (even the gigabyte website does not list it!!)

Is it the mother board driver, or xp, and can I get anything to fix this? (if someone has the board driver, I would be eternally grateful)

I have also tried 2 isp's; connecting to aol, and tiscali, and the results are the same.

Please can someone help me, I am in serious trouble if I cannot get this working.

Respectfully

Dave

Hi SESaskDFC.

Thats the driver I'm currently using on that machine, and although it dials, it disconnects as soon as it comes to verify user name and password (which i know used to work).

I just dont get it??

Dave

Are you certain that the correct user name and password
are being entered?

Howdy:

This is a no-brainer, but do you have the correct IP address and DNS installed in your DUN settings??

Absolutely positive mate.

Ive even logged on with a different account.

At the Packard Bell Website, someone using an incorrect driver, recorded the same problem, but I am using the correct modem?, the one above.

???

erm................

what?

how do you mean?

I thought PK Hell went out of business a few years ago. PK Hell computers are VERY picky about EVERYTHING. I am sure it came with a restore disk. Do you have it? It is VERY hard to get a pk Hell computer working correctly if you are not using the software that comes on the restore disk. Might have better luck if you use the restore disk and then upgrade to XP instead of doing a clean install.

Just my 2 1/2 cents
Good luck
