I just picked up a cheap client who has two PII boxes. One has Win 95 with no service packs that I can decern. The other he has upgraded to XP and patched the devil out of it. The XP can see and access shares on the 95 box, which is doubling as the print server. ( another issuse to be tackled after I update the drivers on the xp side) The 95 box can see the XP box but when it tries to access the shares its stopped assking for a password. I know I need to make an account on the XP box for the 95 box but where I'm not that comfortable with xp I've been dealing with 2k(pro and server) almost exclusively for a while.
Any directions would be helpful.

If you just need to know where to do it...

Start>Settings>Control Panel. Go to Administrative Tools (you may have to select classic view to see this applet), then go into Computer Management. Look for Users, create the user/password there.

Thanks, will give that a shot.
In essense xp is a server software even though its feel and look is as a stand alone?

No, its not a server software, just microsoft's latest multiuser os.
