Owners of distribution lists in Exchange 2000 cannot add to the list. What is wrong? Is there something I'm missing. The owner get "Unable to save, insufficient permissions". Help.
The Rights are different from Exchange 55 if you have a Native Ex2k Environment.
Since i have more than 4x more Lists than Users and the same Problem i manage this by another way.
-> Go to Users an Computers select the List click properties.
-> select security
-> add the user that will manage the list
-> give him / here the rigth to Add/Remove self as Member
-> select Advanced
-> select the User and then select View / Edit
-> select Properties
-> select the Permission "Write Members"
important only with Apply to: This object only !
Tipp:
I do not give the User the right to manage the list i create a group with the right to manage the list so not only one can manage the list (it is also possible to set rights for some lists where Users can add themself such as interresing Newsletters)
All the lists for this management begin with maybe adm.Listname / adm.Groupname and are stored in a separate OU list\adm.
This will also prevent you to give for some Groups/Users full access to the File system because they can Manage the Members of a Group for Access
