OWA on (2000 Exchange Serv. with 2000 serv.) and IIS 4.0 NT Serv.

Wanting to set OWA on 2000 exchange server, Our challenge is this!

Server A
Operating System=2000 Server and 2000 Exchange Server

Server B is a Win NT 4.0 with IIS 4.0. This is out WEB server, and also our backup domain controller.

Does anybody have any ideas on how we can link these two Servers together so our OWA will work? do wee need to publish the exchange folders on Server B's IIS??? Any Ideas? Timlau

For this to work, install Exchange on the Web server and then set it as the "Front End Server". It will communicate with the backend server and will allow OWA to work properly.

So that would be the only way to make this work? How about if we upgraded the NT Web server to 2000 server? Would that fix it? Timlau

Hi Timlau,

It's not the web server. It's E2k. E2k is very scalable. The way it does this is by allowing the "appointment" of a front-end server. The front-end server marshalls the requests to the back-end server(s).

It's the only way we got our Web Server and Mail Server to talk to each other and allow OWA.

You could also install Exchange 5.5 OWA on the NT4 box. It works to get to Exchange 2000. Dan

Yup. 5.5 OWA was MAPI so it still works getting to a Exchange 2000 Server. Dan
