I have installed OWA and granted 'log-in local' rights to users. When accessing the page I am receiving the initial Outlook Web Access Log on screen. After entering the userid and clicking on 'click here to your personal e-mail account' I am presented with a connect to domain login in prompt. The user name is entered in the format domain\userid followed by the password. However each time OK is clicked on I am re-presented with the domain log in prompt. Please could anyone suggest what needs to be done to correct this authentication problem?

Take a look in this forum's FAQs, there is an OWA section in it!

Have checked it out but found nothing to solve my problem.
The only workaround I have found to work is to make each user an Administrator - which is not a good idea! The problem still seems to be with permissions - but where???

Check the permissions on the HTTP protocols for those users to start with.

Please describe where the HTTP protocol permissions are set.

First of all, in Active Directory, in the Advanced Exchange settings per user, Protocol settings -HTTP settings has to be enabled.
Second, in IIS Admin, go to the Default Website - Exchange, expand and open the properties for that user.
Check path and othe settings like authentication etc.
Please, don't be shy and press the F1 key once in a while, there is a ton of guidance in there.

PS: When you connect to all you should need is a userid and password, there is no need to type domain\userid

Have reviewed and re-set HTTP permissions and now all is working well! Thanks for your assistance.
