We have an Exchange 2000 server, DC, Web Server behind a firewall. We have complete internet access in and out. We can send and receive email. We are having a problem accessing our Exchange mailboxes through OWA from the internet. We can access internally. We try to access from the internet as We get the error stating web page not found. Same entry internally displays the security / sign-on box.

What am i missing?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

you might have to open up port 80 on your firewall. also, you might want to consider using ssl.. hope this helps. we just finish doing this setup. ssl is sort of a pain to setup.. good luck!!

Maxfaj, could you please detail how you setup OWA on Exchange 2000 using SSL, I really need to know how to do this. I have scoured the web for info with no luck.

Thanks

Ashley

there's a Q article (Q310178) that tells how to set up SSL on a web site.

I have'nt tried it yet but am due to later this month.

Thanks for the article. It does not say anything about Exchange or OWA in this article. Might that be due to the fact that the desing of OWA in 2000 is so much different that that of Exchange 5.5 and NT4?

Thanks

Ashley

Just setup OWA to use Basic Authentication. Then add a cert and require SSL and your done. Dan

Thanks Dan, sounds easy, I've just never done it under 2000 before. I've tried, and run in to problems with the certificate services not releasing the cert I created. Is there a KB article on the steps to add the cert?

Thanks

Ashley

You go to Default Website
Directory Security
Request a cert for Verisign (unless you setup a cert sever)
Then you get it and go back to Directory security and choose to add it (.cert or something like that file)
Then on the virtual directory Exchange under Directory Security choose to require SSL. Dan
