I am working with an Option 11c:
Version 1411, Release 21, Issue 54

My question is the following . . .

Is there a method that can be used to allow someone to dial into a DN from outside (or from a cell phone), and have that call connect directly to our overhead paging (we do our paging internally by dialing "778" which connect directly into the paging system).

We had tried setting this ability up previously, but our best attempt allowed connection to the paging system, but when the external phone hung-up, it did not release the TN to which the overhead paging system is connected to, thus we had to go into the PBX and release the TN.

Our vendor seemed to think that we might need a different/ special card added to our PBX cabinet in order to accomplish this cleanly, but I am not so sure.

Anyone have any ideas?

FIRST IS THE PAGE BUILT AS A PAGE TRUNK OR A WATS, TO ACCESS THE PAGE YOU WILL HAVE TO BUILD A ACDN WITH THE DID AND NCFW TO 778

OLD ROLMEN WORKING ON NORTELS

Another alternative would be to use a page access device like a Valcom V9940 to interface between an analog station and the paging system. It answers ring current and makes the connection to the paging system. It has dip switches that allows you to make the unit time out after 30,60 or 90 seconds.

Should take care of your problem and it is inexpensive.

build a acd with three prompts, the acd-dn, needs to be a did. maxp =to 1, and the ncfw 778.. an idc table in 49 does the same thing so would a phantom dn with forward set to 778. if you need the prompts on any of these just let me know which one and i'll post them
