Is it me or does the Overflow HG timeout simply not work in CCW mode?

Here's what I want to achieve:

1. HG: Ring Ext 11 for 5 seconds
2. BackupHG: Ring Ext 11, 22 for 25 seconds
3. Call rolls to VM in 30 secs.

For the record:
1. Collective Call Waiting Groups
2. Overflow mode Group
3. 4.2 (11) system, same result on a 4.2 (14) test system.

Some testing:

Scenario 1:

In the Primary HG settings:
No Answer time: 15 secs
Overflow time: 7 secs
Voicemail Answer time: 30 seconds

Result: Calls roll to overflow after 15 seconds, ignoring the overflow value.

Scenario 2:

In the Primary HG settings:
No Answer time: 7 seconds
Overflow time: 7 seconds
Voicemail Answer time: 45 seconds

Result: Calls roll to overflow after 7 seconds, rings overflow for 7 seconds, then rings primary 7 seconds, then both for 7 seconds and so on.

My experienced Avaya partner/vendor is clueless and so am I. Maybe the best bet is to just work around this by creating a tertiary overflow group??

Any help would be appreciated. I'm going crazy and this seems like pretty simple stuff..

My experienced Avaya partner/vendor is clueless"

thats worrying.

i would have it as.

no answer time 5 seconds.
Overflow time 5 seconds.
voicemail answer time 30 seconds.

then in the overflow pane add your overflow group 6 times.

it will ring group one for 5 seconds, overflow to second group and stay there until the voicemail timer kicks in.

get a new BP whilst you are it.

thats bread and butter.

I'm with tom on this one, it's as easy as he said, and by the looks of things your Avaya partner/vendor is only experienced in installing flawed systems under the pretence that they know what they are doing because this is as basic as it gets. :-)

hehe,

cheers andrew, i had a pang of "oh dear, how cocky does that sound" and then rechecked my post a few times to make sure i was right [ponder], but i always knew i was [smarty]

waldrondigital i didnt meant to sound arrogant or offend, but it really is that simple, and anyone who makes money from installing IPO should know it. i imagine tlpeter even knows it :-)

hungroup calls will ring each available member for the no answer time, When all available members have been rung if the Overflow time has expired it will call the overflow group otherwise it will continue to ring the group members.

The overflow timer is only checked AFTER all extns have been rung for their No answer time.

This has been the case as far back as the Network Alchemy
& fully documented

Yes, and he has collective groups so No answer is not really doing anything here... "For collective hunt groups the idea of moving to the next member when the No Answer Time expires does not apply. Calls will ring until the call is answered or another timeout is applied. Note that Manager will display a warning if this value is set to over 3600 seconds" so you still need to do what Tom said :-)

HAHA, i was just about to cut and paste the very same sentence

· Overflow Time: Default = Blank, Range = Off or 1 to 99999 seconds.
Calls that ring the hunt group members without being answered can be redirected to an overflow group or groups set in the Overflow Group List below. The Overflow Time setting is used to determine when a call should overflow. Note that Manager will display a warning if this value is set to over 3600 seconds.

· If Queuing is off and all members of the hunt group are busy, a call presented to the group will overflow immediately, irrespective of the Overflow Time.

· If Queuing is on and all members of the hunt group are busy, a call presented to the group may queue for up to the Overflow Time before overflowing.

· If the call is currently ringing a hunt group member when the Overflow Time expires, it will complete ringing using the group's No Answer Time before overflowing.

· If the Overflow Time is off, a call will overflow when it has rung each available hunt group member without being answered.

· When a call overflows, it is still controlled by a number of settings of the hunt group from which it has overflowed.

· Calls that overflow use the announcement settings of the original group from which they overflowed.

· Calls that overflow use the Voicemail Time of the original group from which they overflowed.

· Calls that overflow are included in the Queue Length and Calls In Queue Threshold of the hunt group from which they overflowed. They are not included in those values for the hunt group to which they overflow.

And of course the suggestion to add the backup group multiple times worked perfectly. Thanks.

If an overflow group has a time profile putting to the group to NS, it will skip over that group.

So you can do fancy things, like different overflows for the morning and afternoon etc.
