One of our business units has specifically requested 96xx phones for their international office. My personal experience was that I did not like the user interface and ended up going back to my good old 4625. Besides the administration difficulties, does anyone have an opinion from the end-user perspective that might allow me the opportunity to talk the business out of going in this direction (or quite the opposite, move the rest of us that way)??

Thanks so much!!

You need the 9640,s and a engineer that know,s whats he doing... then i recommend the 96xx

if you don,t know what your doing stay on the 46xx

Stay away of the 9610 and 9620 i alway,s use 9630/40/50

Please do share any info regarding the difference between the 9610/20 versus 30/40/50 (from an engineer standpoint). Thanks so much for your response. I hope others also respond as I am most interested in the END USER comments (as my dept will have to support (or at a minimum listen to) the complaints (if any)

The 9610 is a horrible phone. You cannot even transfer calls with it, since it only has 1 call appearance. It's an expensive repalcement for a 2500 set, and in my opinion not even worth putting in a lobby.

9620's are fine, but they are missing a few buttons.

9630's and 9640's are the same phone, 9630 has a black and white LCD screen, while the 9640 has a full color LCD screen

9650 has extra buttons... and is also a black and white screen.

With CM4, you can have up to (3) SBM24 modules (Side Button Modules), on the 9620/9630/9640/9650, for 24 more visible call apparances or features. If you have a client with a lot of busy-indicators or bridged-appearances, this works out well.

Like Mitch said 9610 are horrible,

9630/40 have the right display and are easy to use with the phone book we use with LDap and precence (you have to make it yourself) on it.

What buttons are the 9620 missing?

I see some pricing on a quote here, is this in line with what you pay for these phones? I think they are doing POE:

31 - 9620's for $276.50 each
50 - 9630's for $437.50 each

Thanks,

Toni

Does anyone have any opinions on the 16xx series phones? Our hospital IT steering committee has decided to run with IP phones in a new 200,000 sq.ft. expansion building. Seems that we're implementing VoIP for technologies sake, and not because the phones will provide anything new that our current TDM phones can't.

From the previous replies, it sounds like the 96xx phones are a mixed bag of tricks, some of which should be avoided. I'd appreciate anyone's opinion on whether or not to stay with the 46xx or take a look at 16xx phones. I do understand that the 16xx phones require a paper label. That's going to be a pain. Thanks in advance for your comments.

96xx is the way to go, they are good phone,s with good voice quality......

You just need somebody that now,s whats he,s doing but thats with every phone or phone system....

Yes, I would go with 9620's, for basic users, and 9630/9640's for the more phone intense users, or even 9650's with an SBM module or two. You need to be able to adminster your DHCP's server to get these to work, you need to setup Option 242. An S8300/S8400/S8500 or S87XX's can be used to serve the HTTP/HTTPS files, FYI.

(Without having hands on experience with the 96xx series... In a call center environment given the choice between 9630 and 9650, price being the same, can someone recommend which is better?

Thanks!

Toni

Man! 9640 wasn't on the table!! I need to choose between 9630 and 9650 for a call center environment. Thanks!

We have both the 4600 series and 9600 series phones. I think the 9600 phones are very tempermental. I have been experimenting with the 1600 series phones and I like them better. They have a call log feature just like the 9600 but they have buttons that light which the 9600 does not. I have been testing a 1616 phone and I like it much better than the 9600 phones.

Finally - I was beginning to think you guys were playing a joke on me! Thanks!

If i let you see the 9640 with precence you only wan,t 9640

Names in red are busy in blue are in send calls in green are availible and black are logged off..

real nice....
