Would like to tweak a router to get rid of some discards I am seeing, any help appreciated.

7206 -fa0/0 and fa0/1 in a port channel
port channel broke into sub interfaces
port channel is a trunk
each sub interface in a seperate VLAN
dot1q encapsulation

other end

2900 switch fa0/22 and fa0/21 in a port channel
port channel trunking dot1q

ok, there is a ton of sh "whatever" I could post for this so rather than fill the post with numbers I would like to start from the begining. I am seeing OQD on on the 7206 port channel to the switch. On the switch int's in the port channel trunk i am seeing some ignored and multicast but not enough to add up to the OQD on the router port channel trunk.

Where would you start?

Are you seeing any other errors on the interfaces on either side? I am assuming not since you didn't mention them. If there are no errors, just drops, I'd check the utilization on the 2900. Are you sure it's not being overutilized?

I would then check CCO for any bug reports related to getting OQDs on a 7206. I've seen IOS bugs that cause weird things like this in the past, but I saw it on a 3662. Still, it's possible, so you should check it.

you might be able to change some buffer settings on the interface.. other then that this means that you are overdriving the output of the interface.. Usually from bursty traffic.
