One of my users keeps complaining that whenever he shuts down Outlook it just seems to hang saying that it is closing. any ideas why this might be?

Give us a bit more information please.

Which Outlook which version.
What OS

Does Outlook ever/never close for that user?

I have a user with Outlook 2000 client (with SR-1 (9.0.0.4201) and the security update installed) that also hangs on exit. We are using Windows 98 SE on the front end.
On the back end it is a Microsoft Exchange Server Version 5.5 Build 2653.23 Service Pack 4 running on a NT 4.0 server with Service Pack 6 installed It is all running on a high end Dell server 1.0 Ghz processor and 1Gig of RAM.
Outlook 2000 was installed on this users' machine a year ago - two weeks ago it mysteriously stopped closing properly. There have been no changes or recently installed application on this machine. Out of a 150 machines with Outlook 2000 installed only 2 suffer from this problem. Any thoughts
