We have OWA enabled on our only internal exchange server. There is no external access at all at this time. The problem is when we enabled OWA we don't get the standard login screen on the web browser we get a Windows authentication pop-up box. While I don't mind this (it does not hurt functionality) my boss wants something a little more pleasing for the user to see.

The URL we are using is
The exact screen he is looking to show is -

I did verify that IIS is running and that there is the logon.asp in the C:\Program Files\Exchsrvr\exchweb\bin\auth\usa directory which I know the logon.asp is supposed to be the template for the logon page.... I just am now stumped at why the page isn't displaying.

OMG this is Golden I will let you know tomorrow if this cures it but this looks ot be exactly what I need.

Reinstalling OWA didn't work I did that last night after I realized the last uninstall did't work.

Keep my fingers crossed and thanks for the pointers I am appreciating every post.

No go... I looked at the Kb information and did it all to a T but there still is not ExchangeAppPool in the drop down list also after reading it a bit more indepth I was more sckeptical about it working as it talks about the sites in general not adding the pool.

Also I wanted to clarify something I did not uninstall OWA and reinstall it I just got rid of it in IIS and had it recreate is. As far as I know there is no way to just uninstall and reinstall OWA is there? Don't you have to uninstall all of exchange to do that? We don't want to uninstall it due to all the configuration that is currently in place....

If you removed and reinstalled IIS, insert the exchange CD and choose the "reinstall" option. This will replace any missing componente, ie. OWA. Remember to reapply your service packs.

For forms based authentication to work, you have to use SSL. The only authentication method you should have selected is basic.

You had:

"checked - Enable Anon Access
Username- IUSER_SERVER"

I doubt very seriously that the IUSER account has access to everyone's mailbox. That's why you got the prompt. Unchek anonymous and integrated. Check basic.
