I am using OWA in my organization and it works fine from outside the network. I can access it using the IP address or DNS name (from outside). I can't access OWA from inside the local network with either of the two. I am running DNS on my domain controller and have added a host record with the outside ip address for OWA.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

That works fine. It just won't resolve the external IP address or DNS name associated with the Exchange server.

It depends on what the DNS server the client computer is going to on the internal network. You say it works fine from outside, if that is the case, what server is handling the DNS for the outside? Is the internal server forwarding to the correct server? Are you getting unknown host when you ping? If it is not possible to forward to the external DNS server (for security or other reasons) you could always set an A record on your internal DNS server that has the internal IP.

How do the basics work from inside? Can you ping the servers? What does ipconfig /all show. How about tracert? Good luck.
