Outlook shortcut bar displays wrong amount of new messages for inbox

I am using Outlook 2000. I have two mailboxes on my account and one of the inbox shortcuts I have displays 1 more new message than there actually is. Example: If there are 3 new messages my shortcut says I have 4 new messages. If there are no new messages it displays 1 new message. The folder list has the exact same problem. Any information would be helpful.

There are no filters set in my mailbox. Any other thoughts? Thanks very much!
