I'm running outlook 2000 and for some reason it randomly freezes the computer to the point that I have to do a hard reboot. I have reinstalled the software, updated outlook and windows 2000 to the latest security patches and fixes. Yet the problem persists.

Any ideas on what could be causing this?

Also the person who uses the computer deleted the jdbcmngr file because of that hoax. However the microsoft website says that it's not needed.

One other noteworthy fact is that at some point with windows file protection program came up saying that dll files were needed to be copied to the system to maintain integrity, although I don't have the win2k cd on me. Could this be the culprit? If so, how do I get that message to come up again

Try running the system file checker. Open a command prompt and type sfc /scannow. You will need the Win2k cd for this.
