Outlook (not OE) When i click send/receive I would like the small window to come up while it is performing the task. But while experimenting with it I click to never show this. Now I can't figure out how to get it back.
Anyone know?

From the Outlook GUI I dunno.

Modifying the registry here it is

For Outlook 2002

[REGEDIT4]

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\10.0\Outlook\Preferences]
"SyncDlgSuppress"=dword:00000000

Outlook 2003 and other versions change 10.0 to the appropriate version number.

Opps no square brackets around REGEDIT4 so

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\10.0\Outlook\Preferences]
"SyncDlgSuppress"=dword:00000000

didn't work. The SyncDlgSuppress was not under preferences so i added a new dword and made the value 00000000
is this correct?
and what is regedit4? I just use regedit to modify the registry

When you click Send/Receive do you see an image appear on the end of the Windows taskbar? If so try right-clicking it and selecting Details. This will bring up the dialog box and you can remove the check mark.

Why make it simple and efficient when it can be complex and wonderful?

Hello PCS800,

MIKE555 suggestion works as long as you click on the status dialog box while it is downloading your mail or if you have a password prompt on your email account do not enter your password click on the status dialog box select details.

Alternatively, here's the registry key for Outlook 2000.

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\9.0\Outlook\Options\Mail]
"Always hide dialog"=dword:00000000

0=unhide
1=hide

REGEDIT4 is to be used when creating a reg file so you can simply double click the file to merge into your registry. So you could create 2 files one for hiding and one for unhiding.

HIDE.REG
---START COPYING---
REGEDIT4

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\9.0\Outlook\Options\Mail]
"Always hide dialog"=dword:00000000
---END COPYING---

UNHIDE.REG
---START COPYING---
REGEDIT4

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\9.0\Outlook\Options\Mail]
"Always hide dialog"=dword:00000001
---END COPYING---

You could also get rid of the prompt to merge the registry file by using REGEDIT with the /s parameter.

REGEDIT /S HIDE.REG
REGEDIT /S UNHIDE.REG
