Have an outlook PST file that has gone over the 2 gig barrier and the scanpst tool will not finish the repair.

I've tried the pst crop from microsoft and have reduced it to 1.9 gigs, and have even tried a HEX edit on the file. All to no avail.

Anyone else with any suggestions?

PST crop is crude. Try running it again with different amounts chopped off the file, and then try a PSTscan afterwards - in fact, a couple of runs through might be beneficial.

been there, done that... tried reducing up to 5 times with different amnts. Scanpst errors out every time.

Is there another email client that can import the pst directly and handle more than 2 gigs? or is there any tools that can repair and compact a pst?

So if you've tried all the commercially available recovery tools and the commercial recovery services and it still isn't workimg, I reckon it's toast.

Importing the PST into another version of the email client that supports over 2GB won't help. That's because it's the structure of the PST itself that's the problem. Newer versions of Outlook, for example, use an entirely different structure. It can read old-type PST's, but in the same way older Outlook versions do.

You've done about all I would spend the effort and time on. Anything that's this important should be backed up often always keeping a copy of one from the last time it worked...

Yeah, i've given up on it... It's not corrupted.

A friend of mine will try and import it into his exchange server to see if it works... last ditch effort.

Thanks for the replies.
