Hi all -

Got a user who is receiving a strange error message when they go to use their out of office assistant. The message reads:

"The out of office assistant could not be displayed. The client operation failed".

Then when you press the ok button they get this last message:

"System resources are critically low. Close some windows"

They are running XP pro and Office XP (all patches and updates applied to both). I have tried a reinstall of office with no success. I also have search Microsoft's web site on those error messages, however their results didnt help the specific problems I have been dealing with.

Any help on this problem would be great.

Thanks in advance!

Based on "incomplete" search results I sometimes get in the MSKB, I'll risk asking a potentially irritating question... just in case... Was one that you tried?

Please forgive me if your answer is YES!

Bluehorizon - Thanks for your reply. They are using a new computer with 512 memory. While we have a lot of this style of computer out, this user is the only one getting this error. It also happens when you open outlook by itself.

dcompto - Thanks for your reply as well. I did not see that kbase article, I will give it a try.

dcompto - that was the link I needed. Had to modify Microsoft's instructions slightly to suit my specific conditions. But my user is back up and running again.

Can I ask what keywords you used to search Microsoft's web site? It seems when I type error messages in, I dont get the same results other people do ;).

Thanks again.

Ash57,

I know what you mean, hence my earlier statement:

Here are the search parameters I used:

I have the same issue. What I have done is use Office 2000 client and did this and then office 2003 works fine:

Tools>Rules Wizard>Options>(Update Exchange Server)Manually>update now>ok
