Hi

I have a laptop that I use for work, and for home. I occasionaly need to login to the Domain, but usually I dont. If I use the Domain login while not connected to the Domain, Events are piling up Erroring out in the Event Viewer. I created another logon to the machine itself with no Domains involved, and this should cut it for me for the most part.

However, I also depend on Outlook, and an Exchange server, and I need that always. I use RPC over HTTPS to connect, and works like a charm. But as you know, in order to read emails offline, I need to use cached Exchange mode, which creates an OST file at the Profile I am logged on with. When I log in using the other profile, and use outlook, it will create another OST file, but these two instances could be one, as the two files are identical at all times.

My question is as follows:

Can I use the same OST file for both of my logons?

Thanks

Ben

Hi

I have gotten the resolution. It was the easiest possible way, and I almost didnt even bother trying it, as it would have seemed like a waste of time. But it actually worked.

I had the OST file for the DOMAIN logon account. I created a new, only machine account, meaning that it isnt logging me onto the domain, but just to the local machine. When I set up Outlook for this new local user account, after typing in the Exchange server name, and mailbox name, I clicked on More Settings - Advanced tab - Offline Folder Settings - and there I pointed it at the Domain user account's OST file. NOTE: this setting can only be changed upon the creation of the Outlook profile. After it has been created, the option is greyed out.

Now both of my logon accounts work, both the domain and the local one, and they share the same OST file.

Cheers,

Ben
