Outlook not syncronizing offline

I recieved a new lap top with Office XP Professional and the problem is Outlook, for some unknown reason it will not sync email to offline folders wich makes it really difficult to read email when your not connected to the network.

Does anybody know whats wrong or if I have to sets aome kind of parameter or is this just another product that gives you neat functions but takes away others
