outlook messages to outlook express

is there a way to export email from Outlook 2000 and import it into Outlook Express?

Yes. In OE, if you go to File, Import, Messages you will find an option to Import from Outlook.

well that's what i thought too, but the only program listed is OE 6......Outlook is not listed!

If I go to File, Import, Messages, I get the Import Dialog open with a choice of 11 formats including Outlook. I can't for the life of me think why you don't get full options.
