In Outlook Express, there is a setting which allows you to hide/turn off the "Folder Bar", which is the gray bar that runs horizontally along the top of the window, right below all your toolbars, but above the folder list and message list, and has the text in it that says "Inbox" or "Sent Items" or whatever folder you currently have active and open. You hide it by clicking "View"->"Layout"... and unchecking "Folder Bar".

HOWEVER, I have not yet been able to find where to turn off/hide the folder bar in Outlook. Does anyone know how to do this?

Right click on the bar and select Hidr Outlook Bar - that should do it

No, actually, the Outlook bar is something different, thats the one that has the icons for "inbox", "outbox", etc in it. It usually goes vertically on the left side. I'm talking about the dark grey bar that runs horizontally along near the top of the window, right below your normal tool bars and has the title of the folder you are currently viewing printed there. It doesn't respond to any right-clicking or anything... its almost like in Outlook its permanent, but that makes no sense, since the same bar in outlook express CAN be hidden.

I see what you are referring to and I don't believe that toolbar can be hidden (at least not through the interface). Actually it is a useful tool but only when the Folder List view is not being used. When Folder List is not displayed then you can click on that toolbar to temporarily call up the folder list view to switch folders. joegz
