outlook info about .pst 1

i want to know what is the best to archive the mails in OL2002.
we have exchange server too.
as our manager stores 1000's of emails which he needs all the time which has drawings attachment.
can anybody tell me how to save all this mails regularly wihout letting outlook to hang up intemitantly?
i will appreciate it.

Sounds like this is a .pst size issue causing Outlook to hang.

Check the size of his .pst file. If it isapproaching 2gig in size, that is what is causing Outlook to hang.

If this is the problem, an alternate approach to archiving some of the mail messages would be to create an additional .pst file and move some of the messages to the new folder. This is done via Tools - Services - Add - Personal folders. This allows for faster access to them versus retrieving archived messages.

Outlook can handle many .pst files at once which combined can go well over the 2gig size limit.
